Registered Charity No. 1144479
12 & 14 Mill Road, Stock

Item ID: 307
Category: Photographs
Approx Year: 2013

Full Description:
Part of the terrace of cottages near the start of Mill Road.

No. 12, 'St. Crispin's Cottage', with the two white doors furthest from the photographer, was previously known as 'Little House' (It had been two cottages at some time, and one door is sealed up). This latter name was originally displayed in large letters over the top of the doors where the ivy now grows. The Parish Council raised objections, saying it was too large, and the name had to be removed.

Mr Buck, the shoe-maker and repairer once lived here, followed by the Boszko family. It was the next lady who called it 'Little House'.

No. 14 has always retained its white picket fence, whereas the others in the terrace have open forecourts.

This is a 7" x 5" copy coloured photograph in excellent condition.

(See Item No. 296, Pages 61 & 21, showing a photograph of these properties, and some of the neighbouring cottages, in the mid-1970s.)
